Porsche 962-C07

962-C07 was constructed as an IMSA specification “air/air” single turbo car with a Chapman monocoque (#962-C07). It was built with a short tail engine cover with a bi-plane rear wing.  As was customary with IMSA 962’s, it uses a single KKK turbo charger mounted above the engine, with a large intercooler (ala’ 935 style) also above the engine.  This necessitates the easily recognizable large air scoop on the roof behind the cockpit.  The engine uses original Bosch Motronic engine management.  This is a proprietary ECU developed by Bosch Motorsports for the Porsche 962.  The car runs original engine management maps.

After a racing incident, the monocoque was damaged and deemed unsafe for further racing. It was discarded as scrap metal.  The car was repaired with an original Thompson monocoque. However, the rest of the car remains as original. Consistent with regulations in modern Historic & Vintage racing, the car now uses modern fire suppression & safety equipment.

As of 2019, this 962 has raced continuously since it’s original construction.
